Joy Restored: Transformational Coaching for Women

Welcome to Joy Restored. Our mission is to protect, encourage, and empower trauma and abuse survivors. We help Christian women understand their history, reclaim their freedom as beautiful creations of God, escape abusive and unfaithful marriages, and create a joyful life after trauma.

Welcome!

My name is Stephanie Martin, and I am the founder of Joy Restored. I’m so glad you’re here!

If you are looking for support in the midst of a challenging marriage, you’ve come to the right place. At Joy Restored, we uplift Christian women who have been dragged down by marital trauma, abuse, unfaithfulness, and betrayal.

This is a difficult road to walk, but you are not alone. If you’ve realized that you need support, a listening ear, and a game plan for your future, keep reading.

The conservative church in America has a massive problem.

When Christian women encounter abuse, infidelity, or betrayal in their marriages, they often don’t know where to turn. Operating in faith, they often decide to seek help from their church leaders. But, when they disclose their experience with their husbands, these women are often shot down by the church leadership. They are told to…

  • Forgive him and make their best effort to reconcile (even if they are in physical danger)
  • “Satisfy his needs” and “be a better wife” (even if their husband has broken their trust and been unfaithful)
  • Focus on rekindling the spark in their romance (even in the absence of changed behavior on the part of their husband)

Feeling betrayed all over again by their church, these Christian wives often feel they have only two options: return to their destructive marriage with no hope for escape, or leave the church altogether as they seek their exit in the form of divorce. The first option causes an internal death of any hope for a better life. The second option causes an immense feeling of guilt and shame.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

If you are in the midst of this terrible dilemma, please know — God loves you fiercely, protectively, and completely. He never expected you to sacrifice yourself on the altar of a destructive marriage.

To give women an option for safety, God provided several Biblical reasons for separation and divorce. In our program, you’ll learn exactly what God Himself says about divorce in the case of a destructive marriage.

You might have been lied to. You might have been pressured to stay in a terrible situation that God doesn’t want you in. But thankfully, you don’t have to stay there.

In the Joy Restored program, we give you the tools to:

  • Understand what happened to you–both in your past and in your marriage
  • Discover what the Bible says about separation and divorce
  • Create a step-by-step game plan for your exit and your path moving forward
  • Rebuild your life, village, and relationships in a way that fosters hope, faith, and true joy

You don’t have to figure this out on your own.

There are so many women who have walked the path you’re on right now. It is much easier to do it with someone in your corner. I can help you fight the battle for your freedom. If you’d like to have a conversation about this, free of charge, reach out below and we’ll set up a time to talk.

  • What is spousal abandonment? And is it happening to me?

You know something isn’t right in your marriage. Your husband has been distant, seeming to pull away from you. Even though he hasn’t left…it feels like he has. What is going on? You may be experiencing something called spousal abandonment. Spousal abandonment is when one person in a marriage suddenly or gradually pulls away from

  • Should “forgive and forget” ever apply to an abuser?

I have heard a troubling recurring phrase several times in my line of work over the past two weeks. That phrase is “forgive and forget.” Is this generally a good concept to follow? Sure. But should it be applied to the actions of an abuser? No. And here’s why. We can work toward forgiveness, for
